I’ve heard of short notice but this is ridiculous…

I had an email today from DGM that was sent at 2.30pm. It was a request from one of their merchants, iwantoneofthose.com and it basically asked all affiliates to adhere to some guidelines such as abuse of URL’s, keyword bidding and trademark infringement. The email also came with an excel spreadsheet attachment “affiliate check list”. What annoyed me about the email was the fact that it ended with this signoff….

“Do ensure you have done a comprehensive audit of your site by 22nd April to meet the requirements of Iwantoneofthose.com to remain on the program.”

So we affiliates are expected to drop everything at 2.30pm on a Friday afternoon and act on this email immediately?!

Now I don’t promote this merchant but if I did I would be very tempted to tell them to take a run and jump. I see these type of emails as a bit of a slap in the face to be honest. We work hard and put a lot of work in promoting merchants and hopefully working in a partnership. But to receive this type of dictatorial email really gets my back up.

Come on merchants, treat us as partners with a little respect and you will reap the benefits. Treat us like this and you will find yourself with no affiliates.
