Google Web Accelerator
I’ve long time been a fan of the Onspeed affiliate program. For those of you who haven’t come across it, it’s a piece of software that speeds up your internet connection via compression technology. It retails for £24.99 and off the top of my head the commission is about £7 per sale. So not bad really at around 28% per sale.
However, I learned today that Google have released Google Web Accelerator which after a brief look, seems to do exactly the same thing as Onspeed. However the major difference is that it’s free, and it comes from Google, probably the biggest brand on the web.
So will this hurt Onspeed sales? Unfortunately I think so. Don’t get me wrong, Onspeed will still sell and they do have a quite aggressive marketing campaign in the UK computer press. But in the long term this will undoubtedly have an effect on Onspeed and on affiliates who promote it.
On the other side of the coin who knows what the effects will be regarding affiliate links and cookies displayed via Google Web Accelerator? It doesn’t seem to be much of an issue right now but you never know….

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kieron Donoghue and I run UK Offer Media Ltd. I thought it would be fun to post a daily (well hopefully daily) blog, writing about my experiences in Internet Marketing and more specifically Affiliate Marketing. I'll include some personal stuff too, probably about my other passions, music and cars. Please feel free to post your comments and thoughts too.

There is one major difference between Onspeed and Google Web Accelerator, and that is that GWA isn’t for dial-up connections.

You what is for dial-up connections! Netzero and their new 3G technology sounds absolutely awesome. An instant on button that provides a broadband like experience. Faster then any other dial-up on the market. It will be released within 3 months. They just announced it on their conference call this week.
