My site targeted by spyware

I found out yesterday that some affiliate scumbag had targeted one of my pages of my sites through 180 solutions and their spyware. What this basically means is that if anyone who has spyware installed on their machine views a certain page of my site, then this moron’s page would come up instead. Therefore all my hard earned pay per click spend will be for nothing. Basically it is theft, pure and simple.

Anyway I wouldn’t even be aware if a certain very very helpful and friendly affiliate network hasn’t told me. It turns out that they regularly query 180 solutions database to see who is up to what. I won’t name the network publicly, but I owe you a big thankyou nonetheless.

So, I rang the MD of the merchant who this scumbag is promoting via 180 and I’m pleased to say he was as annoyed as I was; and is going to give said scumbag what for.

Problem is, how do we know this isn’t really widespread and happening on more sites? Guess we all need to be vigilant.

Kieron,

I had a scumbag put a 301 redirect onto one of my sites. Luckily I found it out rather quickly but by then the damage was already done.

I was able to get him to stop the 301 but I couldn’t get the big “G” to take out his link in association with me. I lost a lot of traffic and personally wished I could do more. Finally last week (8 months later), I got out of the penalty he caused me and I am back gathering up my traffic once again.
