Closed PPC groups
Love ‘em or hate ‘em, fair or unfair, closed Pay Per Click campaign groups are part of life in the “affiliate space”. (BTW I hate the term “affiliate space” it reminds me too much of corporate mumbo jumbo new media luvvy darling type speak).
Anyway…where was I? Oh yes, closes ppc campaigns. Well I’m a part of a few and they are usually done on a first come first served basis. I.e. whoever has been promoting the merchant the longest gets to take the top spot. Or at least the number 2 spot under the merchant. So, I was surprised to receive an email from a merchant who operates a closed ppc campaign last week to inform me that they are going to start a rotational ppc campaign. What this means is that for one month an affiliate will occupy the top spot, the following month they will be sixth (there are 6 affiliates in this group), the following month fifth, the following month fourth and so on until you get to number one. The position that you will maintain for that month is determined by the amount you are allowed to bid.
I have to say that this seems a fair way to do it to me. A lot of merchants have talked about doing it this way but none have actually applied it, until now. The affiliates involved all know what they are doing and I doubt any will stray from the plan. So all in all, a good idea and a fair way to handle ppc on brand terms.
What I’m listening to right now: The Pussycat Dolls featuring Busta Rhymes - “Don’t Cha”.
Have you heard this track?!?!?! Have you seen these fine ladies!?!?!? If not get over to www.pussycatdolls.com

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kieron Donoghue and I run UK Offer Media Ltd. I thought it would be fun to post a daily (well hopefully daily) blog, writing about my experiences in Internet Marketing and more specifically Affiliate Marketing. I'll include some personal stuff too, probably about my other passions, music and cars. Please feel free to post your comments and thoughts too.
