Getting sued from Sony
Received an 80 page document today which is basically a long letter threatening to sue me for selling “grey” PSP imports. Actually white PSP’s which are from the grey market, if you know what I mean
In what is probably the worst example of pointless legalese I have ever come across I had to read through the documents about 10 times to actually try and decipher what on earth it was they are actually trying to tell me.
Anyway, as far as I can gather they seem to think that I am “offering for sale white PSP consoles that have not been put in the market in the EEA by our clients or with their consent”.
What they possible don’t realise is that I don’t physically sell any PSP’s at all, I just promote YesAsia who do sell them. So is this right or wrong? Am I at risk of being sued by Sony? I have no idea is the honest answer. I kinda have a fancy that I could just state that I carry adverts on my site and am not responsible for the content, they should go speak to YesAsia themselves. But then again I could be wrong. What I’m not willing to do however is waste time, energy and money in researching to see if I have a legal leg to stand on. Although I make a good return on White PSP’s I doubt it would cover my legal costs in any sort of legal action against Sony.
Has anyone else been affected by anything like this?
What I’m listening to right now: “Mary J. Blige - “The Breakthrough”. Yes still!!

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kieron Donoghue and I run UK Offer Media Ltd. I thought it would be fun to post a daily (well hopefully daily) blog, writing about my experiences in Internet Marketing and more specifically Affiliate Marketing. I'll include some personal stuff too, probably about my other passions, music and cars. Please feel free to post your comments and thoughts too.

You naughty boy Kelvin! Best suggestion is to talk to the guys at Briffa.com who will offer you advice as to where you stand legally.

If someone sold them on ebay would they sue ebay?

I assume you’ve spoken to YesAsia about this Kieron, what was their stance on this if you don’t mind me asking? I’m guessing Sony will not be the last company to lunge feet first before doing their detective work.

you have a great opportunity here, just get a piece of paper and write, please clarify so I can comply and then randomly pick out a few things from their document and then mail it back to them. takes 2 minutes, they will then hire 20 additional lawyers and send you a 160 page document, of course it will take them months. then you spend 2 more minutes and do it again. they won’t figure it out for years.
