Merry Christmas!

This is going to be my last post for 2005 so I wanted to take this opportunity to wish a very Merry Christmas and a Fantastic New Year to everyone that knows me.

I’d also like to publically thank all the networks and merchants who have sent me Christmas gifts this year. Your generosity has been outstanding guys and most welcome. At the time of writing I have received over 26 bottles of champagne and wine so it will indeed be a very Merry Christmas!

2005 has been an amazing year and a quick look at my figures shows that I have smashed all my previous records in terms of turnover and profit. Who’d of thought that when I first started out in Affiliate Marketing a few years ago that it would provide such a good source of income and a job that I truly enjoy. One thing is clear though, I need to somehow find a way to outsource work next year as I’m spending too much time on “admin” tasks and not enough in seeking out new areas to grow the business.

2005 has also been the year I think when Affiliate Marketing came of age. Who’d of thought that we’d have an A4U get2gether that attracted more than 400 delegates and many, many blue chip companies and household brands? Or the fact that e-Consultancy and IMRG are now holding regular Affiliate Marketing round table events? And what about the sudden introduction of the new affiliate networks that cropped up in the UK in 2005? Raise your hands Webgains, Affilinet and Zanox. Sure, some consolidation is bound to happen in 2006 but that’s not a bad thing. And what about the fact that online advertising overtook radio advertising for the first time ever in 2005? I mean wow! How huge is that?

So farewell 2005 and hello 2006. I can’t foresee the future but I do know that next year will be very, very busy and fingers crossed we will see Affiliate Marketing become even more established as a route to market in its own right.

What I’m listening to right now: John Legend - “Get Lifted”. Why? Because after much deliberation I have come to the conclusion that it is *the* best album of 2005.

P.S. If you didn’t receive a Christmas Card please accept my apologies. It wasn’t deliberate, just that I have a bad memory! Big thanks to Peekaboo Design for my Christmas card design (above).
