Earlier in the year it was announced that following on from the huge success of the Robosapien in 2004, the Robosapien V2 would be launched in time for Christmas 2005.
In fact so big was the hype that I created www.robosapien2.co.uk in February! However September came and went with no sign of the Robosapien V2. Then October was touted as the launch date which also came and went with no sign of the little robotic fella. We then slipped into November and the high street stores and all the online gadget sites started promoting the Robopet and (the rubbish) Roboraptor with *no* sign of the Robosapien V2 anywhere. By the end of November if you looked hard enough at some of the online gadget sites you could see some pre-order pages starting to get some attention. The release date? 1st week of December 2005. In actual fact the Robosapien V2 finally saw its UK release this week 12th December. Did you notice? No, I didn't either. So much for it being one of the top selling toys of this year.
Too little too late? I think so. Another missed opportunity? Yes. Alongside the PSP, and the Xbox 360...but more about those 2 another day.
So all in all I'm very disappointed that this product didn't reach our shores in time to capitalise on the Christmas rush. Definitely a missed opportunity as last year we sold loads. BTW has the Christmas rush been and gone? I think so.

Not sure about Robosapien V2. I’m not sure it would have done that well even if it was released earlier. I don’t sense any real buzz towards it like there was surrounding the original.
Talking of XBox 360′s… I’m no big PPC player, but as part of my small PPC Christmas foray, I did pretty well out of amazon pre-orders. Got around 100 orders most with additional accessories and games too. 14.9% conversion. Stopped the campaigns a while back as stock levels were so poor and people realised there was no chance of getting it this side of the new year. Now, if stock was good for that and the PSP, they would have been lovely Christmas sellers. Shame.
