Merchants - Please keep creatives up to date
I’ve been promoting Screen Select via a 120 x 120 graphic on my site for many months now. The creative is really simple - “Click here to get 5 free DVD rentals”. Short, and a great call to action, perfect.
BUT I noticed a few days ago when surfing other sites that there seems to be a load of new Screen Select creatives available on the web. This time the communication is “Get 6 free DVD rentals”.
Did you spot the difference?
So why didn’t my 120 x 120 banner automatically get updated with the new creative and the new consumer message? I’ve just logged into TradeDoubler and have seen that every creative size has been updated with the new offer *except* my 120 x 120 banner. What is the point of that?
My site now looks as though it is out of date and people will obviously shop around and sign up to whatever site is showing the 6 DVD offer instead of the 5. So I lose out.
I simply don’t understand why ScreenSelect would update every bit of creative they have except 1 size. Or failing that if I had received some communication that the consumer offering had been updated I would have logged in and chosen a new banner size. Not ideal but a workaround.
Surely the benefit of using an Affiliate Network is that you can upload your new creatives to the interface and then instantly all affiliate sites are updated?
Merchants, please make note - keeping your creatives up to date and in line with the consumer offers of your website is vital.
*UPDATE* OK so I’ve uploaded a different size banner that reflects the “get 6 free rentals” offer. But when I click on it I go to a Screen Select landing page that says “5 free DVD rentals”. I give up.

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kieron Donoghue and I run UK Offer Media Ltd. I thought it would be fun to post a daily (well hopefully daily) blog, writing about my experiences in Internet Marketing and more specifically Affiliate Marketing. I'll include some personal stuff too, probably about my other passions, music and cars. Please feel free to post your comments and thoughts too.

It’s even more depressing when the promotion on a creative goes out of date and no one bothers to let you know. Hate dealing with those.

And why does it take merchants so long to provide occassion specific creatives such as Easter? Surely it would be in their best interests to have these out early.
