Communication from merchants
For all you merchants/affiliate managers etc out there here is a crash course on how *not* to promote your program to affiliates.
Here is a real email I just received:
“Dear All,
New banners are available in the Affiliate windows login area for you all.
Data feeds are also available on request.
Many thanks
Ben @ TOFFS”
Well isn’t that great? Toffs have…wait for it…some new banners! Fantastic!
It wouldn’t be as bad if we were even told that it was a new banner promoting xyz and that it is really special because nobody else has this product etc. But really, some new banners. WOW!
I’m sorry Toffs but in a crowded marketplace you really need to grab your affiliates attention with something a bit more exciting than new banners.

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kieron Donoghue and I run UK Offer Media Ltd. I thought it would be fun to post a daily (well hopefully daily) blog, writing about my experiences in Internet Marketing and more specifically Affiliate Marketing. I'll include some personal stuff too, probably about my other passions, music and cars. Please feel free to post your comments and thoughts too.

Well in their defence I guess these people are affiliate managers and not marketers so their rather bland approach is understandable if not very exciting
it is a step in the right direction though Kieron what about all those emails that come through extolling the virtues of the program while ommiting to say which network they are on :0(
or maybe by keeping it this bland, the merchant is talked about and gets exposure on respected blogs
