Great resource for affiliates
I just have to share this with you, a very, very valuable resource.
For those of you (like me) who have to outsource work, whether it is design or coding or whatever - you will appreciate it that it can be a very fraught experience. The main problem I’ve found is finding someone to work with who you trust and can do the job that you want, on time and at a good price.
In the past I’ve used Elance but again you fly blind a little bit and have to impart a certain amount of trust on the contractor you hire.
So imagine my delight when I stumbled across the Sitepoint Contests Forum. Now the concept is this: You pay $19.95 to post your “contest”. It can be anything from a logo design to a full website, fully coded. You then offer a cash “prize” which contestants can “win” if you pick their work.
Now to the good part. Once you have posted your contest on the forum and gave a brief about what you are after entrants “compete” by posting their ideas/designs for you to give feedback on. So in other words you get dozens of people tendering for your business and creating pieces of work for your brief. You then offer feedback, and fine tune the entries until you get something you are happy with and choose a winner.
The level of talent on the forums is quite outstanding. And its great to see how they would approach a piece of work for you even before you have awarded them the job. Much better in my opinion than simply browsing through a generic online portfolio from somebody.
I recently got a small website designed and coded for $300. I don’t think I would have got anything of such a high quality so cheap anywhere else. So next time you have a project you need to outsource, give it a try.

We grew up in the same era I think, Kieron… it’s worth coming back here to check out what music you’re listening to! LOL, Man Parrish… top tune, keep those dogs barking! Do you by any chance have a copy of Al Naafyish by Hashim?
On a serious note the SP Contests Forum is well worth a look at… there are some very, very talented designers posting in that part of the forum.
