IMRG Interactive Marketing Workshop - Affiliate Marketing
Yesterday I was invited to be on the panel of the IMRG Interactive Marketing Workshop on Affiliate Marketing. I was representing the Affiliate community and there was also a Merchant and an Affiliate Network on the panel.
For anyone who doesn’t know the IMRG, they are “the leading industry body for global e-Retailing, uniting e-Retailers in a collaborative community, promoting the highest possible industry standards and best practices, and providing up to date market intelligence on the status of the e-Retail market”. Basically they promote the Internet as an effective route to market to traditional brands and retailers.
The workshop was attended by 100 or so people representing some of the biggest brands in the UK and indeed the world. Which is all very positive as it shows that Affiliate Marketing is now gaining the attention we all know it deserves. However what I guess was most interesting was the perception that some of the attendees had of Affiliate Marketing compared indeed to what the reality is. Needless to say I hope the event made it clearer in everybody’s head what the Affiliate sector is all about. The whole workshop was operated under the Chatham House rules which means I can’t really say anything about the content of the workshop or who attended. But the point I wanted to make is that its great to see this sort of event taking place and generating lots of interesting topics of discussion. If even one major brand decides to launch an Affiliate Program as a result if attending then it’s been a worthwhile experience.

Good to see you get invited to this after your comments re netimperative.
I was an IMRG member as an e-commerce merchant and there are some serious heavyweights in there.
Is there any way of getting hold of this content if you’re not an IMRG member?
