UKOffer.com redesign now live

Well, the remixed and redesigned, www.ukoffer.com site is now live.
As you can see it’s built around offers, discounts and voucher codes. I plan to promote it by SEO (Wordpress has some really good plugins that help) and also some PPC. I’ve had quite good success with other WP sites when optimising them so I’m hoping it’s 5 year history and existing backlinks will also help the SEO along.
If any merchants have anything cool they want to promote on the site then please do drop me a line with the details via the Contact page. Any feedback welcome too!

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kieron Donoghue and I run UK Offer Media Ltd. I thought it would be fun to post a daily (well hopefully daily) blog, writing about my experiences in Internet Marketing and more specifically Affiliate Marketing. I'll include some personal stuff too, probably about my other passions, music and cars. Please feel free to post your comments and thoughts too.

Looks really Good Kieron.
But there’s a MySQL error appearing under the Offers by Company section

Thanks Carl, we’re working on that now.

Nice overhaul Kieron, but why are you not using the ‘pretty’ permalinks?
July 25th, 2007 at 7:02 pm
Me again! You also have two ‘about’ pages showing, one is the default Wordpress one.
July 25th, 2007 at 7:06 pm
oops, what happened to your logo sizing?
July 25th, 2007 at 7:16 pm
Ash, thanks for that, spare About Us page deleted! What “pretty” permalinks do you mean?
Dazza, not sure what you mean about logo sizing?
July 25th, 2007 at 7:45 pm
Hi Kieron, new to here, your blog is great. As Ash said why do you use the default permalinks? If you want SE friendly you should change the permalinks to http://www.ukoffer.com/%postname%/ or others similar to this.
July 25th, 2007 at 8:27 pm
All sorted now, thanks for your feedback guys.

No problem Kieron. The permalinks are working for your posts, but not for the categories, did you hardcode the category menu perhaps?

Use dashes instead of underscores on the categories URLs. It’s more SEO friendly
p.s.: *first comment here :)*

Rob, true but (a) Wordpress doesn’t seem to like dashes and (b) Google are apparently starting to treat underscores the same as dashes. See here: http://news.com.com/8301-10784_3-9748779-7.html

The logo (uklogo2.png) had a grey background earlier, a transparency issue? It looks ok now.

Ooops, i miss that one. Thanks for the link

Looks really nice. I’m redoing a couple of Joomla sites into Wordpress as we speak. I hadn’t seen the rate my post plugin before so I’ll give that a whirl on one of them!
July 26th, 2007 at 12:34 pm
Just tried signing up for the newsletter and it’s saying my email is invalid? tried a couple of different addresses but no joy, might be worth a look

OK, as I blatantly nicked the idea for usingthe ratings plugin, thought I’d give a little back.
At the moment the sidebar is showing the top rated everything so your error and privacy page are showing.
if you use this syntax you can limit it to posts - i.e. offers, and limit the number of them:
Hope that helps

Stephen, thanks for the tip, we’re working on that now.
With regards to the email form, we’ve tried it with many addresses and they are all working fine. Likewise we are getting new subscribers every hour so not sure whats happening there.

Kieron,
You’ve previously said that this site makes you very little money.
Surely you have bigger fish to fry?

George - yes, in its old format. Hence a complete redesign/restructure and some new promotional activity to drive traffic. In the past I’ve never really driven much traffic to it.

I hope it works well for you.
Btw I’m pleased your blogging more regularly now. Usually a good read!
