Buy.at launch ContentEngine - easy way to add latest offers and content to your site

I first got involved with Beta trials for the Buy.at ContentEngine about 3 years ago in 2004 BT (Before Tyson) at the time when Buy.at where in their old Newcastle offices, and only employed a handful of staff. At the time I thought it was a really cool, useful and easy to use tool. And it is. However since then the company has been concentrating on expanding and becoming one of the biggest Affiliate Networks in the UK. And now that they are in that position they have released the full and finished version of ContentEngine to the world.

So what is it? Well its a way to quickly add dynamic, up to date content to your site. Take a look to the sidebar to the right for example.

This mini content unit took about 10 seconds to build and therefore fulfills the criteria of us lazy affiliates, namely that its very simple to use. You can also choose to use Javascript of HTML to display your code. The benefit of using HTML is that the content of the content will be viewable and crawlable by the search engines.

To support affiliates Buy.at have also launched the ContentEngine blog which offers great tips and advice on how to use the technology. They are also offering a trip to Paris if you use the tool, see here for details.

The full press release is here, log onto Buy.at here to see how good the ContentEngine really is. And you can also see an example of how I implemented the ContentEngine into this blog, if you look in the sidebar to your right.

I noticed this earlier on the buy.at website, and it certainly looks interesting.

I think the word ‘content’ is slightly misleading, since the ‘content’ is contained in javascript…

Ash, as my post says you can display the content using HTML or Javascript. If you use HTML then the content is visible to the search engines.

I’m using Firefox and there is no such content unit in your sidebar - not the best start! :-)

I’m using Firefox too and the content unit is most definitely visible. Its not visible at post level however (deliberate) which is why you maybe can’t see it. Go to the index page at http://www.here.org.uk and you will see it.
