Updates - Back from holiday
I’ve just come back from a week at the Bahia Del Duque hotel in Tenerife. If anyone is looking for somewhere to escape to from the miserable UK summer then I can really recommend this place. The hotel is huge - 8 pools, 16 restaurants/cafes etc. and a really fantastic place to stay. The service was excellent too, the staff couldn’t have done more to help or been more friendly. Anyway, thats my Holiday tip for the day.
Toilets: On a similar subject why is it that whenever you’re on a plane, 3 minutes or so after takeoff when the seat belt lights go off - is there a massive rush to the toilets? I mean what did you do for the last 2 hours in the airport?!
Guest Bloggers: I would just like to thank the 5 guest bloggers who helped to keep my blog updated while I was getting sunburnt. Thanks again guys! I know you all put a lot of effort into your contributions.
Anonymous Affiliate Managers: OK if you want to build a relationship with us affiliates it kind of helps if you tell us your name. Unlike the affiliate manager from The Doghouse who simply signs off here with “Yours faithfully, Account Manager” not to mention that they have promoted their new program in the forum of the affiliate network that they used to be on! Come on you can do better than that.
Speaking of Doing Better:Yes come on you have to do better if you want our business. Take APS CashPlus who have just launched an affiliate program on Affiliate Window. First of all they tell us we can earn “up to £8 per account” but then don’t tell us the tiers. Then they say this in their T’s and C’s “You must make every endeavour to generate at least 50 activated card sales per month“. I mean what does that mean? How terribly stupid. So if I give them 5 or 10 sales a month will they kick me off? What if they have 500 affiliates each delivering “only” 3 sales a month? Will they kick off these affiliates and lose 1500 sales a month? Stupid stupid stupid.
Rejection Emails from Networks: I recently applied to join 2 affiliate programs on Advertising.com. After waiting 4 days (I mean come on, 4 days?) I got the following email:
Dear Kieron Donoghue:
Thank you for your interest in the : ‘uk vw jetta cpa an feb07, Volkswagen Jetta’campaign. Unfortunately we are not able to approve you for this specific site due to advertiser requirements. Please return to your “Manage” screen and search for another ad to run.
Sincerely,
The
Advertising.com team
I mean how unhelpful? Did they think of telling me why I was rejected? Of course not. So I email another contact at Ad.com and ask him why I was rejected, he replied that he didn’t know and the account manager who rejected me is off on holiday but if I reapply I will get accepted immediately. So I did and I got accepted. But what a bloody carry-on. Come on guys, why not make our job of promoting your programs, which we do on a “paid on results” basis at our own expense - just a little bit easier?
Phew! Rants over

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kieron Donoghue and I run UK Offer Media Ltd. I thought it would be fun to post a daily (well hopefully daily) blog, writing about my experiences in Internet Marketing and more specifically Affiliate Marketing. I'll include some personal stuff too, probably about my other passions, music and cars. Please feel free to post your comments and thoughts too.

Kieron:
you will be suprised of the sheer number of such ‘unhelpful’ merchants out there. I got rejected all the time as I am not from US nor UK. That suck.
but hey, it’s their loss to reject you, not your loss
