Auto marketing - creative and original
OK I could write some sort of tenuous link talking about how the following 3 pieces of auto marketing are really original and we could all take a leaf out of the auto industry’s book by being more creative with our online marketing….but to be honest I just wanted to show you some really cool car related photos.
It’s illegal to use a mobile phone is Russia. To get this point home the Russian government created this piece of automotive art to bring home the risks of driving and talking on mobiles. Ouch!

To announce the launch of the Hummer H3 over here in the UK, Hummer displayed one outside a Toys R Us store complete in its own box that reflects the fact that its positioning itself as the “ultimate boys toy”. Check out the “1:1 scale” and “real roaring engine noises”. A fantastic piece of marketing.

Look at this photo then look again. To celebrate the launch of the new Subaru Impreza in the UK the “Subaglue” transporter will be touring the country. I have just one question; how did they do it?

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kieron Donoghue and I run UK Offer Media Ltd. I thought it would be fun to post a daily (well hopefully daily) blog, writing about my experiences in Internet Marketing and more specifically Affiliate Marketing. I'll include some personal stuff too, probably about my other passions, music and cars. Please feel free to post your comments and thoughts too.

Lol no mate not at all. I was trying to find a word that covered the “automotive industry” as the first picture is about mobile phones in cars, and not just cars. Oh well, you know what I mean.

Nice post, Kieron! I hadn’t seen the Russian campaign - what a great idea.
I saw the hummer one in the paper & thought there was something odd about it:
Great for Hummer
Not so great for Toys R Us!
With all the fuss about carbon footprints, & a ‘young mother’ market, you’d expect them to avoid this like the plague. Wonder why they went with it?

Re the last one, when my dad last went to South Africa he discovered a firm that makes a glue called Pratley’s Putty, apparently it holds some bits of the first lunar module together.

Anyway, the story goes that when NASA came to visit him about a new contract, he glued a bulldozer to the ceiling and sat there while they had the meeting.
Might be the same stuff!

Just come across your blog. Good to see these creative campaigns by the automotive industry. There are some imaginative marketers out there but not all. You might be interested in this piece by the former boss at Iveco. He has a gentle pop at the ‘dinosaur’ techniques being used by some in the industry.
