Competition - Win a completely new blog design worth $799

As you know my recent blog redesign was brought to you from Unique Blog Designs. Well we’ve teamed up with them again to offer a really special competition; yes you can get your blog totally redesigned for free!

A complete blog redesign normally costs $799. But you can get yours done for free. Unique Blog Designs have designed some of the most popular blogs on the web such as ShoeMoney and John Chow, they are a very professional company and getting the job done is painless and hassle free.

So how do you win?

Easy, just write a short (minimum 150 words) review of one of my 4 sites listed below using at least 2 text links, containing the following anchor text:

1. Here.org.uk - Anchor Text: “affiliate marketing blog” or ”internet marketing blog”.
2. Bingo.org.uk - Anchor Text: “bingo”, “play bingo”, “bingo online” or “play online bingo”.
3. UKOffer.com - Anchor Text: “discount codes” or “voucher codes”.
4. Poker.org.uk - Anchor Text: “poker”, “play poker”, “poker online” or “play online poker”.

So using Bingo.org.uk here’s an example of how the anchor text links will fit into a paragraph.

Online bingo is fast becoming one of the most popular online games on the web, bingo.org.uk is a great place to read bingo reviews and find out the latest offers available to players.

Rules:

All reviews must be a minimum of 150 words.

Reviews can be on a page within a website or a blog.

The more reviews you do the more chances you have to win. If you write 4 reviews of the 4 sites above then that counts as 4 entries.

You can enter from anywhere in the world!

All entries must be submitted before 31st October 2007.

Use the contact form to enter, just drop me a line telling me where your review(s) is.

Good luck! This is a really great prize and I’ll also feature the winner on this blog, we’ll do a “before and after” feature.

You’re design is still broken in Firefox - the ‘go’ button is under the search box.

Not sure if your fonts are showing correctly either - it doesn’t look right (especially at the bottom of the page).

LB - I’m not sure what you mean? I’ve tested it in Firefox and everything looks fine, the “go” button is exactly where it should be?

Possibly only on the Mac then - but I would be surprised if Mac users didn’t make up a decent amount of your viewers.

I won’t be entering this one as a) I won the last link building competition and b) I’ve just redesigned my site! However, good luck to all who enter. It’s a cracking prize.

Kieron - is it just wordpress blogs that can win the prize or does your designer do other types of blog such as blogger, etc.?

Hi Kieron

I’ve been a big fan of your blog (a great inspiration to us all).

IIRC John Chow did something somewhat similar by asking his readers to link to his blog with the anchor link “make money online” in exchange for a post on his blog. He managed to get to Google No.1 for a while, but the big G clued on and penalised his website even for the search term “John Chow”. Still it apparently hasn’t affected his traffic which goes from strength to strength…

Really Like the Blog re-design Kieron, but…

“By Sneaky I take it you mean “really clever marketing Kieron”.” (only quoting like this as reply to comment function gave me an error popup)

I would have to disagree, I would say this is pretty damn stupid marketing. It is almost exactly the same as the David Airey situation (with the exception of the paid links) that has been widely discussed in the SEO community recently.

In case anyone hasn’t seen it, he basically lost his rankings claiming ‘naivety’ at what he had done wrong. Part of his problem was paid links on his blog, however another was a competition he ran like this.

Matt Cutts replied to comments regarding it on his own blog, you can read the specific advice he gave here:

http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/still-chugging/#comment-113815

Personally with this being so recent and so public I would say any hard working webmaster who risks the same punishment, and increase workload to rectify it, is pretty silly!

Just a heads up for you Kieron, otherwise I think you doing a stella job here :)

I’ve linked to an important blog post (through my name) that it’d be very wise to read before continuing with your efforts.

I don’t agree with the commenter above who says you’re stupid. That’s harsh, because there’s so much bad info on the net about linkbuilding, that it’s an easy trap to fall into.

Good luck.
