Didn’t have the operation
Well, I checked into the hospital this morning. Donned my backless gown and surgical tights (nice) and was wheeled down to the operating room. While getting a pre-op sedative they check many things including your heartbeat, which turns out was too fast and erratic. One ECG scan later and the surgeon decides that its unsafe to operate on me today as my heartbeat is fluttering too much.
This is one of the syptoms of having an over-active thyroid gland and nothing really to worry about. However the medication which I’ve been taking for 6 months was supposed to stabilise it and turns out it hasn’t. So long story short I have to go on new medication, which will be monitored over a period of weeks and when my heart rate goes down I will be re-admitted for the operation later in the year.
So until then its business as usual! Watch out for a tasty competition tomorrow

Sorry to hear that mate. Was thinking about you going through the op today. It’s almost worse to prolong it all.
Hope the medication does the job and you get the problems sorted out.
What a shame!
It’s bad enough making you put on the backless gown (what’s with that BTW, why can’t they let you wear it so your bahookie is warm?)… but to then cancel your op and subject you to a future bum freezing is a real… um… bummer, lol.
Hope its not too long before you get all sorted out.
Thanks for the kind words guys. TBH I was really gutted to get all the way down to the operating theatre only to find I couldn’t have the op. I even had some pre-med so was feeling quite chilled about it all
Its all for the best though and hopefully I’ll be sorted out soon.
