SCM it has nothing to do with profit margins. CPC can be used in places where CPA can’t. Lets say for example you are selling a complex product (financial services springs to mind) and people will want to view some information/brochure online but complete the order by telephone. Usually because they have a lot of complex questions to ask and want the reassurance of speaking to a real person. In that scenario the most viable way to incentivise affiliates to send people to that type of site would be CPA.

SCM - I can’t see cpc marketing ever being replaced, if it is then Google will be in big trouble

CPA, CPA and CPC are all different methods of marketing on the web, I can’t see any reason why any would become extinct. Sure, more and more hybrids of the above 3 methods are beginning to show up but I can’t see the day than any will fade away.

And no I don’t think independant affiliate marketeers will die out either. The way I see it is that the Internet is still expanding at a rapid pace which leads to more opportunities for anyone involved.

Kieron, do you think cpc marketing will be replaced with cpa ? or do you think they will both live in hormony with each other ? If so and why ?

Do you think the says of the independent affiliate marketer are numbered or will continue to get stronger ?
