White is the new black - for cars that is
My last 3 cars have all been black and if I’m honest I’m really bored of black cars now. Which is why its great to see white cars making something of a comeback of late. Now I don’t think all cars look good in white but a lot of them do, especially the more “angular” cars. So here’s my list of cars that look awesome in white.
This is the gorgeous Audi R8. Simply stunning in white.
This is the new Audi A4 due to launch next year. After the R8 it’s understated, but also looks well in white.
This is the Audi TT Roadster with modifications by Abt Sportsline.
This is the Audi Q7 V12 TDI concept. Are you bored of black 4×4’s? I know I am so its refreshing to see one in white.
Last of the Audi’s is the small but perfectly formed S3.
It’s very hard to find an Aston Martin of any kind, never mind a DB9 in white. Had to look to Dubai (where else) for this one.
2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X.
I’ve never really “got” the looks of the Bentley Continental GT. But even I have to admit this fine specimen looks cool in white.
The new BMW M3 in Alpine White. Gorgeous.
OK so not quite white but doesn’t this Ferrari F430 Spider look good in ivory?
The Ford Kuga is due to be launched in the UK next year. Not bad for a Ford is it? Bit better looking than the bland new Mondeo anyway.
The Mercedes ML Edition 10, due out early 2008.
I struggled to get a picture of the new Mercedes C Class in Sport trim in white but hopefully you can see from the image below how good it looks.
Even the humble Volkswagen Polo GTI suits a white coat of paint.
And the Polo’s big brother, the Golf GTI.
Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. I saw one of these in Vegas earlier this year (in a shopping mall) and it just looked fantastic in white.
Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Versace Edition. Wow!
BMW 1 series. I didn’t like these at first but they’ve really grown on me now.
Fiat Grande Punto Abarth.
Honda Civic Type R. The pic below is the official concept, bizarrely you can’t buy it in white in UK showrooms.

I’ve got a white car and will probably never buy a white car again. My preferred colours would be silver, black or blue.

Great post though, car porn at its very best! Dubai is the place to go to see these cars, drive around and they are everywhere, and looking great as well. I’ve had a thing for white cars for the past couple of years since I went there.
Black is a pain to keep looking good, but white doesn’t suit every car - that golf in particular looks ridiculous to me. But whats brilliant is opinions!
You know I’ve never been a fan of white cars at all, but some cars (like what you’ve shown) do look really good in white. It’s a rare occasion, but when a car can pull it off it’s really nice.

Not that i disagree with the fact that some cars look good in white,but the fact is every car you like in white looks alot better in charcoal.its just my opinion but you should look into the fact that silver or charcoal is alot easier to take care of especially with oxidization that is a big problem in phoenix(where im from),or anywhere that has concentrated sunlight.everyone thinks its ok because they cant see the damage in white.however its still there.so if you dont care about your car then buy it in white,cause you do not know any different.but to each his own and id hate to tell someone else their buisness but i love cars so have to give my two cents.

I notice you haven’t mentioned the Ford Capri, which for my money is the best looking car in white. I had one, it rocked… then the engine blew up, but hey, it’s a Ford.

Not too sure about the Lambo in White, white seems to be too clean subtle for a supercar.

Got rid of my white Audi Ur Quattro a year or so ago, so good to see the rest of the world slowly catching up.. FWIW I’m driving a “Titan Silver” one now, so beat the queue and order your M5 in dark silver/grey now!
Here in Israel white colour for cars is most sold. To be honest with you, I hate white colours for cars, it’s like a primer colour for me like the car paint is not finished and needs a different colour on top of that! Here you see for example white jaguars driving around. I see it as a waste, but that’s my opnion! People buying here a white colour car because of the heat and therefore less warm, though all cars today have airco! I grew up in Holland and definitely will not pick white colour for a car. My favourite colours are more black, silver or red.
The Porsche looks SICK with the black rims, like any white car with black rims. And the Fiat looks surprisingly good as well.
What about the Mini Cooper in Pepper white? Been around a few years and looks good.

Sorry, white cars are ugly, especially if its a sports car. I can understand a grandma buying a white toyota highlander or a white buick, but a white R8 or a white Aston Martin?? Come on! Pick an actual color if you’re gonna get something that nice.
Love the Audi R8. Cool that Audi got such a high grade of innovation. And yes, white would definitely be a colour I could imagine to have on that car..

I used to love black cars and hate white. Now I’m the other way around.
The Audi R8 is king in white. And the Gallardo too. I never liked the BMW 1 series styling either, now it’s grown on me immensley (Blue or Red please!).
I own a BMW 120i Sport in Alpine White III and agree with you the majority of white cars look awesome. Although I am not so sure about the Bentley you listed above.
I live in Japan where most of the cars are white so most people are conforming and not wanting to stand out in the crowd.
Sorry, I can’t stand white paint on supercars. Give me metallic colors any day.
Maybe these all have auto transmission too?

i was close to getting an 08 lexus IS250 in white but it seems too plain although it looks nice. I ended up getting a black one. A nice neutral color. I agree that a sporty looking car is dull in white and need some paint. I also find white cars can be hard to upkeep. That’s my 2 cents and to each is own.
I would never buy a white car it is not as attractive as a black or grey car.

The reasons i want a white car is. White cars are chick magnet. trust me. think about ibook, iMac, ipod. Chicks like white.
Also, it is zen and pure. At night, its just amazing and flashy, especially if you park outside nightclubs.
Lastly, its the new trend apparently. Black cars are still nice, but too many ppl out there with black.
As for silver, Silver is too commun now. Not as cool as white but maybe a better long term investment than any color.
Black and Silver are both easy to resell. White is not. And may be hard to resell once the White Trend disapear.
Anyway, i’m getting a Smart ForTwo in white color.. i’m not gay. Buy a white car if you want the chicks to get in.. buy black if you want to scare them away. Unless the chick is a goth fan, most chicks like white cars..

White cars can look really good, but… there is only 1 but in my opionion and that is.. only in sunny places a white (spors)car looks great.
Like for example a was last year in Miami the Sunshine state and I saw quit a low white sportscars and it they were tight!!
But!! In Holland where I live, where it rains 300 days of the jear, and outside view looks grey and cold a white car looks like shit.
So my conclusion is… Does a white supersportcar look hot? Yes and NO.
White cars can look good, when come from carwash… 3 days after rather black.

Yeh, white can be very eye catching although my bet is, these cars look better in these angled photos than they will out on the road…but the real advantage of white is you can quickly build in stunning rally-style graphics and logos so the more sporty models will really turn heads.
Anything for a getaway from silver, anyway!

Your critique on white showing off all the curves and lines is quite valid. However, I feel silver is even more effective at this as it’s a metallic and therefore (if you put in lots of arm grease) much more highly reflective - more bling, more depth and more striking than the flat, plain white. Sure, it’s clean - as a designer white is my colour of preference for breathing space - but it does have the disadvantages I’ve just mentioned. My MK5 silver GTI still trumps white in my eyes and mind!
Last comment, I think much fresher, sexier colours are the RS4-type reds and blues. My next car will be one of those (probably the blue). But then those colours will be the ‘old’ black (or white?) by then… point is it all goes round in circles. Nothing is ‘new’ anymore and it’ll all date. Hence my preference for a ‘classic’ colour like silver. I don’t care what’s the latest fad (unless I had the budgets to ensure I was up on ‘em!).

White is the color for an elderly lady’s Caddy. You’d have to have some serious brain damage to buy a sportscar in anything other than red or black (MAYBE yellow for an exotic).
Just re-looked over this thread, white really does look the ducks nuts! As an avid white car lover (2 out of the 4 cars I have had have been white, including the current one). Love that Porky at the end, yummy!
i had my white audi tt 3.2 roadster delivered on 1st march this year after having a black one. I constantly get chased by white van man this never happened in my black one and in harlow they run after it like dogs. i love it but it certainly causes mayhem!
I’ve been looking for a Honda Civic Type R in white, as mentioned you can’t get it in the UK so having to get it imported!
cars do look good in white
Just ordered a3 sport in white, stunning looking car. Red was the colour first on list till i saw above picture. Hope i made right choice. Don’t think you can go wrong either way . . i think.
