Didn’t have the operation…again
This time I didn’t even make it down to the operating theatre.
Basically, after turning up at the hospital this morning I was told that they couldn’t go ahead with the operation as I was taking aspirin (as prescriped by my consultant). Long and short of it is that the consultant should have told me to stop taking the aspirin 11 days before the op. And as he didn’t there was a chance that if they operated on me today I could bleed out all over the place.
So here I am, home again, waiting another few weeks for another date to go in and get the procedure done

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kieron Donoghue and I run UK Offer Media Ltd. I thought it would be fun to post a daily (well hopefully daily) blog, writing about my experiences in Internet Marketing and more specifically Affiliate Marketing. I'll include some personal stuff too, probably about my other passions, music and cars. Please feel free to post your comments and thoughts too.

Hi Kieron,
Sorry to hear your operation was cancelled again.
Hopefully next time it will be 3rd time lucky and it goes ahead without any issues.

Hi Kieron,
So sorry to hear that m8, isn’t it really annoying?
What really gets me is that they are quick to criticise if we break appointments or turn up late yet it’s fine for them to make us wait in waiting rooms for hours or, in your case, schedule an operation twice for it to be cancelled at the last minute.
Don’t get me wrong, coming from a medical family, I have huge respect and time for the health service, but in my experience, there seems to be very little appreciation for our time and although the first cancellation was based on your health and well being, yesterday could have been avoided if they had read your notes and sent you a pre operation check list 14 days prior to being admitted.
That’s my rant of the day but here’s hoping you get it sorted sometime soon.
Cheers,
H

Sorry to hear that. A bit of a nightmare to keep getting messed around like that.

What a nightmare … poor you.
I hope they get their act together soon, there’s nothing worse than waiting … Kev would chime in here with his Top 5 list of things that are worse which is the tradition when I say “There’s nothing worse” ;o)
Bad luck that you had to miss the night out in Durham. I’m sure I heard someone say that you recommended the restaurant in which case thanks very much because it was yummy.
Hope you don’t have to wait too much longer for the op x

Sorry to hear about the second delay Kieron :-(. Have the docs given you a new date yet? The worst part is the waiting! Best of luck with it all.

Kieron,
Sorry to hear that mate, some doctors are so bloody useless! hope it all turns out well when you do get round to having your op.

I’m genuinely sorry to hear that mate. The NHS is a joke. Must be causing you a lot of stress. I sincerely hope this doesn’t linger on much longer.
Not sure what the health authorities are like in your area or if it applies to your circumstances, but they have a policy here that if they cancel your appointment three times, they get it done for your privately. Happened to me once and I had a whale of a time in the private hospital: my own room, mini-fridge next to my bed, satellite TV (not on the NHS in those days) etc.

Thanks for all your comments and kind words guys.
Nadeem - I am in fact a provate patient but because of my Periodic Paralysis condition the surgeon wanted me to have the operation in an NHS hospital rather than a private one - as there is more backup. So I’m at their mercy!
