My recommended flower merchants for Valentines Day and Mothers Day
Following on from my two Valentines Day flower posts in 2006 (wow that long ago) here and here, its nice to see that some merchants have sat up and listened, namely Tesco Flowers. Instead of the standard 3% they have increased their commission levels to 7% for the period 28th January - 2nd March. This covers the two peak seasons for flowers, Valentines Day and Mothers Day.
So I thought now would be a good time to do a roundup of the flower merchants who in my experience convert well, just in time for these two peak flower sales periods :)
Tesco Flowers
Network: Tradedoubler
Commission: Normally 3% but 7% from 28th January - 2nd March 2008
Teleflorist
Network: Buy.at
Commission: Normally 8% but doubled to 16% from 1st February to 2nd March 2008
Bunches
Network: Affiliate Window
Commission: From 10% to 15% depending on volume
Flowers Direct
Network: Affiliate Window
Commission: From 15% to 20% depending on volume
Flying Flowers
Network: Affiliate Window
Commission: 12%
All of the above programmes convert well, and with commissions available of up to 20%, flowers can be quite profitable. All I’d say is read my previous posts as you don’t always need to stick to the well known brands in this sector.

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kieron Donoghue and I run UK Offer Media Ltd. I thought it would be fun to post a daily (well hopefully daily) blog, writing about my experiences in Internet Marketing and more specifically Affiliate Marketing. I'll include some personal stuff too, probably about my other passions, music and cars. Please feel free to post your comments and thoughts too.

Do you find its possible to have a viable ’seasonal’ website (like flowers) using natural search or do you think the SEs struggle with the unusual traffic patterns?

@ gadget. I’d say it fantastically viable to run seasonable sites using natural results. In fact I’d say its easier. A couple of months before the site you simply update it as much as you can. After the even you just let it lye fallow then work on it again.

Lee - I see your point. Thanks.

Gadget - I think its possible but not easy. For example a quick search on Google for the term “valentines day” brings up larger sites with valentines sites as sub sites, i.e. http://www.history.com/minisites/valentine/ So that may be the way to go aim for best rankings.
