There are many paid directories out there but the oldest is
Best of The Web which has been online since 1994.
Whenever I am building a new site that I really want to rank well in the search engines I always use BOTW. Its very well established and respected in the online community and it is the only paid directory service I ever use.
So when I just heard about their 25% off promotion running in March I thought I would blog about it here and spread the word a bit.
To qualify for the 25% discount, when prompted, enter the following promotional code:
SAVEBIG
BOTW have 2 different pricing structures for their directory, you can either pay:
$79.95 annually recurring review fee
$239.95 one-time review fee
Like other directories if you pay the review fee there is no guarantee that your site will be listed. However unless you run a really offensive site I wouldn't worry about your sites being rejected, mine never have. The other thing I like about BOTW is that they will review your site within 3 business days. None of this 3 month business like other directories. Also, you can pay via PayPal or credit card.
So, visit
BOTW to take advantage of their 25% discount offer in March 2008.
What I'm listening to right now: Erykah Badu – "The Real Thing"
cheers for the kieron, botw – very usefull!
So Kieron, which option do you choose when you use BOTW? one time payment or the annual payment? Thanks! GT.
Do they accept gambling sites? Also, I note they accept blogs for a mucho cheapo one-off $40 – I wonder if they’ll count sites that are hosted on wordpress as blogs even though they’re technically sites?
Thanks for pointing that out John (lammo). Kieron’s discount code still seems to work with the blog submission price.
GT – I always go for the lifetime option.
John – Yes I have 2 gambling sites listed in the directory. Not sure about the difference between a blog or a site though, I would recommend emailing their support team, they are very responsive.
They also have a nice affiliate program Kieron
Good directory for sure, recommended
Thanks for this. It rare to find such a decent discount. I’d been meaning to sign up with these guys for a while and this was the gentle reminder I needed – always happy to save money!
Warning. I had one of my sites rejected because (a) its a blog (needs to be submitted to the Blog directory only), and (b) six months of postings are required.
Well that was a waste of money! I’ll read the full T&Cs next time!
Gadget – this happened to me too but there should be a resubmission form in your control panel where you can submit another site that fits their criteria. If not, email their support desk, I’m sure they will be able to sort something out for you, without you losing your money.
