If grey, silver and black were uninvented; what would you choose as your next car colour?

This post is inspired due to the fact that I’ve just dropped my car off at the garage as it needs a service. While I was waiting around I counted how many cars where in the lot, there were 58. Now out of these 58 different models of Land Rover they were all either black or silver/grey. What’s that all about?

The lady at the garage said that in the 5 years she has worked there, mine is only the second Range Rover she has ever seen in white.

So why are so unadventurous when it comes to picking colours for our cars? I do think black looks good if it is kept clean and highly polished but there are sooo many of them around there is just no individuality in owning one. And as for silver, well I’ve never liked silver as a car colour to be honest. Dull, dull, dull. But even worse is grey, grey is associated with boring old politicians isn’t it? What really makes me sad is when I see supercars in grey, I mean that is just wrong. There are a couple of Aston Martin’s and an Audi R8 in my neighbourhood and for some reason I just don’t understand, the owners chose them in grey. Shouldn’t a supercar be something of a statement?

So let’s pretend that you’re in the market for a new car and that the colours silver, grey or black didn’t exist. What colour would you choose?

P.S. Here’s some “inspiration” :)

I agree completely about silver as a colour, but I actually really like some cars in grey (the Z4 Coupe looks great in grey).

When it comes to colour choice though it depends on the car, I’m with you that white can look great, but in my opinion only on certain cars, the Lotus Exige springs to mind here (But I also love that in the chrome orange or the krypton greeen).

I’ve had a couple of yellow cars, but not too sure if I’d get another.

I’ve got an Ariel Atom on order and have no idea what colour to go for on that yet, but I’m thinking of going for the TVR green/purple flip.

I like colours that don’t stand out and allow me to mix in with all other users on the road. If I wanted to be seen, then I would demand something similar to the latest Vauxhall Astra test car colours;

I was lying on the sofa this weekend watching True Romance and i commented on how cool it would be to have a purple cadillac. Sadly i can’t find a picture of it anywhere but if you buy a cadillac then GO PURPLE!!!

My first car was pea green and my present car is grey. These white cars are growing on me now (Except that Scud which is a disaster in white), keep posting the pics. My next car will be resale red :)

I love the white, but my wife won’t let me have a white car as she thinks they are ‘chavvy’!

My male friends think i am a girl to even care what colour my car is- it’s all about the engine/spec and the interior (”that’s what you see”)

i have to admit that i am also partial to grey and black- it’s that ‘less is more’ subtlety- especially on a great car.

I love white for the colour of a car, nicely cleaned, polished and waxed up you can’t beat white for the colour to have (well, in my opinion)!

I’d be gutted if silver was uninvented … mine is silver (shame on me) and it quite literally never looks dirty no matter what the North East coastal weather chucks at it.

If I was pressed then I’d probably have to go for the groovy metallic blue that Elaine’s car is … being a girlie I’ve got no idea what so ever what sort of car it is though!

My current car is purpley reddish - depends on what day it is which colour I go for. Today I actually think its purple. Blue is my favourite colour though - So I’m thinking the next car will definitely be a nice metallic blue.
