WordPress blog designer wanted

I’m on the lookout for somebody who can design and code custom WordPress themes for my network of sites.

To give you an example of a custom theme take a look at Lewis-Hamilton.org.uk (and yes I know it’s hopelessly out of date in terms of content). I’m after someone who can create good logos, a custom header and other important design elements.

It’s also vital that you have experience in not only installing it onto a domain but also the installation of various WordPress plugins.

So basically you will need to be able to come up with a design/logo/colour scheme for the blog, then once it is approved you will be given a login and password in order to install the custom theme onto a domain in my hosting control panel. It will be your responsibility to ensure that the site is live, running smoothly and all the plugins etc. work.

Once the first blog is finished and we have a standard template agreed, there will then be other opportunities to work on some other projects/blogs I have in the pipeline that will follow the same format. Basically I’m looking for somebody reliable, trustworthy, with a good eye for design that knows how to work with WordPress. This isn’t a full time position, rather an opportunity for a freelancer to partner with me for ongoing projects. You will be paid for each project completed.

If you think you fit the bill then please contact me with some examples of your work and an idea of how much you charge for your work.

Try Matt Brett (mattbrett.com) or Milo (3oneseven.com)

Both excellent designers/developers, very helpful and very communicative. Both have won awards for their work too.

You previously recommended Baltic Blog Design, and Unique blog designs, why not use one of them? You even offered 10% off at Baltic Blog Design, with “prices start at a very reasonable £300″.

Dont you recommend these companies anymore?

Hi Sean, yes I still recommend both - in fact both are working on projects for me as we speak. However it’s always good to work with as many quality designers as possible, just so your sites have a different look about them. Plus I have enough work at the moment to partner with another designer.

If it were me, I’d get a Wordpress plugin which allowed me to specify hex colour codes.

Then, I’d have a standard template set up (nav bar on the right, content to the left, popular posts plugin at the top, basic navigation bar at the bottom, etc.) leaving a 150/200px tall space at the top.

All you need to do is get a 150/200px by ???px banner created for each new site. The standard template colours would be controlled by the afore mentioned plugin.

It would create a standard format amongst your portfolio but Lee says it works for him - http://www.leemccoy.co.uk/2008/05/lee-why-arent-your-sites-beautiful.html

Just a thought.

Lee - thanks but I want a designer and a coder, not just a coder.

David - I want a bit more of an integrated custom design, not just a header image change.

If you looking for a cost effectve solution I would consider looking at Sitepoint etc for a cheap designer then that the PSD to a smart coder for quality work. The world is full of talented designers who can knock you out a great looking tempolate for $100 but getting them to code it is a diffrent game.

Lee - I’ve used Sitepoint a few times but this time I want someone who can design and code, and someone I can work with together on future projects.

OK, I would have a look at some of the guys on http://www.talkfreelance.com/ which has a number of all in one designer/coders . The good thing about this site is a lot of the users are UK based which means you can pick up the phone and have a good chat about your requirements.

I think kieron posted this here because he doesn’t want to go trailing through all the freelance websites, forums or websites. I think he wants a designer&coder who knows what affiliate marketing is or atleast has a grasp of it, because designing a blog is one thing but designing it with good call to actions, structured content, banners ect.. is certainly different from designing a theme for the masses.

I’m sure that’s why he posted it on his blog.

1. He doesn’t have to go post on 100 sites
2. He doesnt have to go get ‘quotes’ from design websites/companies
3. His one post reaches those who are designers&coders and are into affiliate industry.

Correct me if i’m wrong.

Hi there - we were given a heads up on this by Mark Taylor of Gadget Heaven…

We do custom blog design and have worked for a number of clients which are becoming increasingly high profile (can’t tell you about the latest I’m afraid!) but would be interesting in working with you.

We can’t be the cheapest, and our lead times have stretched somewhat of late, but still…

Feel free to get in touch for more information. If you prefer talking, our office number is 0151 709 7977.

Regards,

Dave.

If you’re in need of a logo designer, I can also recommend Jon Pink at http://www.jpink.co.uk
