I sold a .uk domain name for the first time in a while last week and I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy Nominet have now made it to transfer domains away.
In the "old" days you had to complete a paper transfer form and write a covering letter and send a cheque in order to initiate a transfer, it could take up to 4 weeks. But now, wow what a transformation! Now you log into Nominet - and if you don't know your log-in details just ring them up, speak to a very intelligent customer service advisor (based in the UK) who really knows what they are talking about and are very helpful - and then al you need do is fill in the buyers email address and pay £11.75 via credit/debit card! It is ridiculously easy and takes at most 2 minutes.
So credit where it's due, well done Nominet for making .uk domain name transfers so very simple.

Yes agrre with you Kieron. Nice to see Nominet have joined the “internet age”. The old system was a real pain and I am sure put some buyers off.
Cool – I remember the old days of .co.uk transfers… what a nightmare…
Well done Nominet! We hope we will get the same service the next time we deal with them.
Which domain did you sell? Or is it confidential?
Would be interested in current sale prices.
Thanks
but seriously is it still big business selling domains these days, i know it used to be a big thing years back, i thought it had died down
The new Nominet service is just what domainers have been wanting for years – a proper online system for managing their portfolios. I bought a domain through Sedo yesterday and it was on my tag by this morning.
Well done Nominet and congrats on the sale Kieron.
Many thanks for the positive feedback.
