Ask the Super Affiliates a question

With the A4U Expo only a few days away now, myself, Doug and Jamie are preparing for our "meet the super affiliates" session. This year though we thought we'd invite questions from the audience in advance, just to kick start proceedings off. You can still ask us questions on the day, we just thought a few questions in advance may be interesting. So if anybody has anything that you'd like to hear us talk about then please either leave a comment here or get in touch. We'll then pick a few questions to get the ball rolling before our session next Wednesday afternoon. What I'm listening to right now: Keri Hilson Ft Lil Wayne – "Turn Me Off"

  1. My question:
Where do you stand on SEO and obeying Googles guidelines when it comes to affiliate sites? People cloak links, block affiliate links using robots.txt and buy links to promote their sites. Where do you draw the line and does the line vary according to industry?

  2. Jason Dale says:

    My question:

If you were starting out in affiliate marketing today from scratch do you think you’d be as successful as you have been and would you want to get involved in AM now as a newbie today?

  3. Hannah Swift says:

    What is your number 1 tip for;
    Affiliates
    Networks
    Merchants
    Agencies

  4. Can I borrow some money?!

    :-)

  5. Dazza says:

How would each of you define a Super Affiliate?

  6. Lawrence says:

Following on from Dazza’s question – what exactly makes you a ‘super-affiliate’.

Is it a penchant for self-promotion, or is there more to it?

I’d like to be one too.

    Lawrence

  7. channel5 says:

Agree with the previous commenters.. I’d be interested to hear what the panels definition of a “Super” Affiliate is.

  8. daniel says:

As a merchant wanting to work with super-affiliates, what are the top 5 things I need to do?

  9. Jude says:

    My question is:

We see super affiliates being extremely successful at what they do – however, have there been instances where projects you’ve worked on have gone pear-shaped? Are you successful at everything you do? Or are the super affiliates mere mortals like the rest of us? :o )

  10. Richard says:

    Hi Guys

Which companies would you recommend seeking inbound links from, excluding the major media portals like the BBC or The Guardian.

In many cases they will be paid links, is this acceptable or are there risks attached?

  11. Kieron says:

Some great questions guys, thanks. Please keep them coming :)

  12. Please tell us more about how to be successful using your techniques. What are the risks involved. Being a newie how and where should i start??

  13. neil says:

How much time do ‘Super Affiliates’ spend:
    - tinkering with websites?
    - working on traffic?
    - writing content?
    - listening to obscure R&B?
    - doing other mysterious stuff?

is there a common theme in how you spend your time that sets the most successful affiliates apart?

  14. Chris says:

In your opinion is there any product or service that cannot be successfully marketed via the affiliate channel?

  15. Jacko says:

What was your biggest mistake in affiliate marketing, and what did you learn from it?

  16. Mark says:

To what extent do you think the more famous / well known ‘bigboys’(& gals) are really the main super affiliates, with being a ‘name’ pretty much part and parcel of the super affiliate moniker, or do you think the well known supers are just the tip of the iceberg, with many, many 100′s of others doing equally well without anyone really knowing about that much about them?

  17. What’s your main marketing channel..SEO or PPC.

  18. How can I make as much money as Kieron and Jamie?

How come some supper affiliates are not pretty?

Why do you live in Sunderland with all your wealth.

    Doug….
