Lamborghini 4 door Estoque…wrong?

I love Lamborghinis, I really do. To me they are the embodiment of what a super car should be, they are sexy, brash, exotic, menacing, Italian, completely over-the-top and not in the least bit practical.

So, when I heard that they were launching a “sensible” 4 door Lamborghini (the Estoque) at the Paris Motor show this week I had mixed emotions. I mean a new Lambo is an awesome event worth celebrating in its own right, but…a 4 door Lambo? What’s worse, a 4-door front engined Lambo?! Has the world gone mad?

And then I saw the pictures

I really don’t know what to make of it. The front looks classic Lambo, I can see bits of Gallardo and Murcielago there. But what about everything else from the A pillar back? It just seems…dare I say…wrong? Lambo’s are normally these low-flying, growling angular beasts with razor sharp edges that scare babies, the elderly and the infirm. This however has curves and looks almost conservative if you cover up it’s nose.

At the moment this car is touted as a “concept” but with Aston Martin and Porsche bringing out 4 door “sedans” in the next year or two will Lambo actually put it into production? If so will it put you off Lambo’s forever if you see middle-aged corporate types driving these down the M1 on their way to meetings? What has the world come to?

What I’m listening to right now: Trey Songz – “She Bust My Windows” - AWESOME!

Yeah, It’s just wrong but I know my kids would love a trip to school in the back seat & wouldn’t complain till they are old enough to buy their own…

Countach for the win!

Jill: You know, Marcie, we’ve got this routine down.
Marcie: Yeah. I think we’re ready for the Cannonball.
Jill: Oh, I think so. How far is Redondo beach?
Marcie: 150 miles.
Jill: Hah. An hour flat.
Marcie: What’re we waiting for?
Both: LET’S GO.

I’m not sure whether I like this or not. Your right that it’s not exactly true Lambo style to bring out a ‘practical’ 4 door. But if you are gonna bring one out, it should look like this. The price should put off most corporate types… hopefully.

“The price should put off most corporate types… hopefully.”

What? And leave it in the realm of footballers, Russians and Sheikhs?

I don’t understand your point. We’d all be driving Lambos if it weren’t for the ‘corporate types’?

As for the car, it’s appalling. What’s the Italian for “brand dilution”?

Porsche got away with the Cayenne and the Panamera because their cars have always gone from fast car to supercar - 968, 924, Boxster etc up to 911 Turbo, 959, Carrera GT. Lamborghini are *all* about the supercars, and this is insane.

It might not look great, but if someone offered it to me, I’d still take it.

Hi Kieron

I think it’s great, I can just imagine the baby seat in the back :)

When you hit 40 you may see it differently!

Best to teach them whilst they’re young. Well, that would be my excuse if I bought one anyway :)
