I think people will blog/create websites less. The effect of job losses and lack of money means people aren’t really able to splash out �10 a month on webhosting and Google Adwords promotion, people new to affiliate marketing want instant results.

My suggestion is current affiliates will focus on loans, bankrupcy and savings more.

My prediction is that marketers who concentrate on deep-down specialised niches, OAPS, people with disabilities or non-english sites will make the most money.

great post, and certainly things in there that I agree with wholeheartedly.

I’m avoiding the whole discount codes/cashback side of things. I don’t use them myself, and I think there is enough business out there to avoid the area. What I want to do is find a way of convincing people to use my site links instead of looking for a code/voucher.

The iPhone/iPod app thing is the hook I want to get involved with this year. I’ve got a mac and iPhone and the SDK. I just need an idea and time!

My ideal is an app that people will pay 50p for AND generate affiliate income as well! Oh – and get downloaded 10′s of thousands of time a day!

1) yes, because its so easy, theres so many scripts available that feed off of the networks
2) when it costs less than �3k to get a decent app, theres a lot of brand / ad revenue there.
3) flickr recently did 10TB of uploads in a day, thats a lot of bandwidth and storage, not to mention flickr isn’t monetised very well, expect that to change in 09
4) i must have missed this about AWin
5) i bloody hope so
6) carn’t see google buying them, they bought Jaiku and did naff all with it, I can see twitter launching premium services like SMS for the countries that no longer have it
7) 5%, it doesnt have the community that FF does
