My prediction comes true - Figleaves close affiliate programme
This is what I said in a blog post on December 13th last year:
“Who wants a wager on when the programme will be closing? 1 month? 2? I give it 6 months tops before we get the closure notice email.”
Turns out I was right, a little more than a month after my original email I receive an email from Figelaves today saying this:
“Figleaves.com would like to thank you for your participation in our affiliate program. Unfortunately, we have made a business decision to shut down the figleaves.com Affiliate Program.”
Sad to see a once great affiliate programme get thrown to the dogs like this. But their loss is other merchants’ gain.
UPDATE: Tradedoubler have just posted this on the A4U Forum:
Just to clarify Figleaves is not winding down or closing on TradeDoubler. We have recently won exclusivity which is why Linkshare is shutting down.

I’m not convinced though and my prediction still stands. Cutting commission, cutting cookie length and now moving to 1 network coupled with some experiences I have heard from affiliates still actually wanting to work with Figleaves - but not getting replies to their emails, leaves me thinking that it’s just a matter of time before it gets closed down on all networks.
So, who are the GOOD lingerie merchants we should be promoting? Recommendations? Come on guys there is a big opportunity out there right now, especially with Valentines day just around the corner.

Well not for womens but you can’t do better for the mens underwear side of things than promote deadgoodundies.com (program is with POR) as we are the 2nd largest (only 2nd in terms of volume) to figleaves themselves and have the highest tier of 20% in the sector. Coupled with a very affiliate friendly manager/owner. full product feeds etc. etc. etc. what more could you ask for.
Lingerie Please and Tights Please are always good! Passion8 also have a great range of undies!

BeCheeky BraStop, KnickerBox and La Senza are some that immediately spring to mind. Sadly Figleaves was once a great programme when they had a certain you-know-who as their affiliate manager. It is sad, as this was one of the first big ones I worked with.
Ahh well. I suspect they won’t be the last mate!

It’s interesting that two of the major rags to riches pure play internet retailers, Asos and Figleaves, both built their brand on the back of affiliate marketing, and both closed their programmes once brand recognition had been achieved.
