Twitter and root beer

For those who don’t know what Root Beer is, it’s an alcohol free soft drink. It’s kind of like coke mixed with something antiseptic like TCP
Yes that sounds absolutely awful but its not trust me. Anyway, not many places sell it here in the UK, it’s a popular drink in the USA but has never really taken off over here. In fact the only place that sells it is my local Asda - but its a kind of a “lite” version and doesn’t taste like the real deal.
So imagine my surprise the other day when I saw this Tweet in my Twitter feed from @j_alcoholfree. It turns out that John runs a shop and a site (affiliate programme here) that sells the genuine American root beer that I know and love. So, a couple of Tweets later and John offers me a 10% discount code and I order some root beer and also throw in some orange cream soda and purple grape juice. 60 bottles in total!
Well it arrived the very next day (excellent service) and I have to say it is simply lush. The best bit is the back of the label that says “made with real sugar”. Brilliant.
So the moral of the story…Twitter isn’t just a time waster it can help people get in touch with long lost fizzy pop.

Please feel free to post your comments and thoughts too.

Following this post Kieron I have now signed up to Twitter myself
Hopefully I will find my long lost fizzy pop when I can think of whatever it is now I’ve joined too!
I like a&w root beer. One of my favorite drink.
hey Kieron,
I’m in the US, and I guess our root beer is like your bitter. I’m surprised root beer isn’t more common in the UK, but then I loved drinking bitter when I was in pubs in London and can’t find it anywhere here in the US.
You should mention that you can make root beer floats with root beer (a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a mug of root beer). Yum. ~ Steve, display booths
Well, Kieron I have never tried RB, but if what Steve says is right and its much like bitter, I’d rather stick with our bitter in UK. By the way ASDA in north Wales is least likely to offer RB anyway.
I haven’t tried Root Beer ever since it is not available here. May be I can taste later when I get a chance. I believe that it would be good.
It’s definitely less harmful for you than coke. And tastes almost the same. I’m drinking this stuff all the time.
Haha sweet deal there, and next day service too haha! Personally I love root beer, drink it all the time haaha can’t get enough of it. Add a little ice cream, and you got a root beer float right there. Haha its good stuff.
Till then,
Jean
