I'm speaking this Saturday at Think Visibility in Leeds and thought I would post here to see what you would want to hear me talk about. I've entitled my talk, "How to make a (very good) full time living from Affiliate Marketing" and I have some ideas, however I would rather hear from you and what you want.
So, if you're attending Think Visibility this Saturday (or even if you're not) what would you want to hear me speak about? I plan to give some real life examples of affiliate activity that has worked for me, some hints and tips and a general overview of what I think affiliate marketing is all about in 2009.
I would love to hear your comments and suggestions though of what I should add into the presentation. I've only just started it so there's plenty of time :)

about me
Welcome to my blog. My name is Kieron Donoghue and I am the founder of ShareMyPlaylists.com, ContentNow.co.uk and some other stuff. I have no idea why I'm blue on this photo though but I like it!
what i’m listening to

I’d like to hear your thoughts on how to monetise niches in online retailing where little to no affiliate programmes exist.
Something I struggle to get ideas on is how to work with programmes that don’t support deep linking but instead just offer cookie tracking from the homepage.
hiya, Kieron,
I’d like to hear:
1. What you’d do if you had to start again today (common question, but always interesting!)
2. What you’d do if you were a merchant starting today.
3. Biggest mistakes you think affiliates & merchants make
sadly I won’t be there!

I’d like to hear about how you research an idea/product and the process that see’s it being profitable.
Maybe your ideas also on how to use a content site and find potential products to promote by analysing stats.
I can’t be there
but would love to know if you post any thoughts online afterwards.
I’d like some insight as to what background research you do before deciding to promote something; so that you get an idea whether you are going to make money or not and not waste time on things that don’t perform well.
Is it gut feel and instinct or maybe some complicated formula involving the sqaure root of allinanchor divided by pi times the number you first thought of!
How many ideas do you ditch before you get started or abandon along the way and what would a good success rate be?
Also how much emphasis do you put on link building and other off-page SEO techniques once you have written content? In terms of your time is it 50:50, 70:30 etc.
Have you had results from link building using social media sites?
Cheers Kieron
Hi Kieron,
How about letting us know your formula and roadmap for finding a new niche and how you research and promote this including the initial SEO tactics you use to kickstart the project!
Thanks.
Hi K., I am just starting out into this new world of affilate marketing and web site creation. I would love to come and see/hear you in leeds this sat. are there spaces and may i come along? If not any other venues, pref London? ta Yvonne
Hi – I was hoping to attend, however tickets had sold out before I had chance to register.
Do you know if any of the talks are going to be recorded and released online?
Seconding the “What you’d do if you had to start again today” recommendation.
Love the title of the talk, by the way.
I don’t care so much about what the content specifically is as long as you make it engaging. I’d listen to someone talking about knitting or flower arranging if they were really pumped up about it
I’d also love to see the presentation available online afterwards if at all possible.
Hi Kieron, I would like to know what key points to think about and how to set up / run a PPC campaign – my current affiliate activity is dependent upon SEO.
I would also like to hear your thoughts on developing a successful long term strategy to develop a good income from affiliate marketing. Good income = quit the day job!
Look forward to meeting you on Saturday.
Regards,
Andy
Hi Kieron
I’d like to hear what factors you think have made you so successful with affiliate marketing/online money making, when so many others fail.
Looking forward to Saturday.
Cheers
Hadi
Hi Kieron,
I’d love to hear your thoughts on ethics and affiliate marketing – how do you maintain your own sense of ethics while maximising revenues?
I know it’s a bit late in the day to be asking you questions before tomorrow – I’m on the train to Leeds right now
Cheers,
Alastair.
Hi Kieron,
Questions, questions, I have so many questions
Just the first few that spring to mind…
I’m from a ‘web application’ background – so it would be interesting to hear what you think of driving traffic by developing useful interesting web applications.
Which highly profitable strategies of old are no longer worth doing due to competition/Adword changes etc. and what works now?
How much work do you put into a new idea, how long do you give it, and when do you know to give up?
What is your ‘hit rate’ – how many failures to each success? and how often do you try a new idea?
Why are you better than the rest of us?
Look forward to the talk tomorrow.
Cheers,
Nick
id like to ask what is the top 5 things a new webmaster should do learn and practice
I just read about your presentation this weekend, seomoz.org, sounded fantastic. I couldnt agree more with your suggestion on rarely taking down content. Most of the conversations on SEO are cyclical and the need for the information to be revisited almost always comes back around. Along with the fact that many folks are at different stages learning things at different rates. A lot of content which we may be finished with is still very relevant to others. I will keep my eye out for other speaking engagements that you have.
thanks
Derek
Affiliate marketing has proven to be a sure fire winner for many people, however one has to question the long term viability of a business model that is purely driven by results. The plethora of new fake blogs that are cropping up, purely intent on driving traffic to some offer, without ultimately offering a satisfactory user experience is great cause for concern….
