Bingo.org.uk - relaunch
Today sees the redesign and relaunch of Bingo.org.uk. I launched it first time round in July 2006 but despite some good SEO results I lost interest and the site has laid dormant for almost 2 years now.
However I’ve had a rethink of my overall strategy lately and decided to focus on just a small handful of core affiliate sites, where I think the biggest earning potential exists. First of all is ShareMyPlaylists.com which, while not strictly speaking an affiliate site, is doing really well and taking up a fair amount of my time. Second up is Bingo.org.uk which I will follow up with a redesign and relaunch of Poker.org.uk later in the year.
The reason why I am going to focus on bingo and poker is really simple, it’s all about the domains. Because I have the most popular keyword domains for both bingo and poker in .org.uk form they rank REALLY well in Google. As per my “SEO results” post linked above, Bingo.org.uk used to rank on the first page of Google for the term “bingo” with very little SEO work. I found that as long as I updated the site with fresh content it would rank well. Given that bingo is one of the most lucrative and competitive sectors online this gives me a huge advantage over other bingo sites.
So the plan is to use the tools I have at my disposal at ContentNow.co.uk to create content and links for Bingo.org.uk. I’m hoping that after some work I can get back to the first page of Google for “bingo”. That’s the plan anyway, I’m not saying it will be easy but am certainly going to give it a good go. Eyes down!

Lol, a few people have commented on the loud background design. TBH it was deliberate decision as I wanted to keep the site as simple in terms of layout as possible and also very user friendly for the bingo crowd. So the challenge was to create a “familiar” looking site that stood out from the others. Hence the memorable retina scarring background.
I’ve said for years now that WordPress is pretty much all you need as an affiliate. It is so customisable and can do all sorts of cool stuff that you wouldn’t normally expect from a CMS usually associated with blogs.
Is it the Irish web designers who worked thier magic again?
I have contacted them a couple of times about some work but they never get back to me.

I wouldn’t pursue this avenue. I’ve been trying to get my money back from them after they failed to deliver my new theme - paid a deposit up front

I notice you’re using redirects on your links out of the site. Do Google accept that and not consider it cloaking?
I cloak affiliate links on most of my sites and always have done. It’s a well accepted practice to ensure that anti-virus software doesn’t accidentally remove affiliate links, like they sometimes do. Also makes it easier to update aff links if they ever change, as all kept centrally in a database.
I notice this and sharemyplaylists.com cater for a wide screen width.
Do you think designing for 800 pixel width screens is redundant now?
I have no idea tbh, I just ask my designers to make a site that looks pretty

You’ll probably see some accidental traffic from microsoft’s new search engine. That’s good I guess. More readers is always better even if they’re there only because of a typo.
I’ve seen this site (I mean bingo.org.uk). Looks interesting, maybe I’ll try to stick on it few times… Nice colours, very colourful site, that’s for sure
