Twestival coming to an area near you next week

Twestival Local Back in February we saw the first ever Twestival. A fund raising event held in various locations around the world that raised over $250k for charity: water. From the Twestival site:

What is a Twestival?

A Twestival or Twitter-Festival is a global series of events organized by volunteers around the world under short timescales, which bring people offline for a great cause. Twestival is run 100% by volunteers and independently from any not-for-profit; although the organizing teams do work closely to outline an achievable and measurable fundraising target. Twestival also sets out to identify key skills of volunteers and match these with the needs of the cause; particularly communications strategy, tech integration and social media training. Twestival Local takes place in cities around the world : 10-13 September 2009.

September the 10th to 13th sees the next round of Twestivals, and there is likely one taking place near you. The Twestival nearest to me is in Newcastle next Monday in the The Boiler Room, Hoults Yard, Newcastle at 07:00 PM. Maybe see you there? Because of the nature of Twestival, (it's mainly promoted by Twitter as the name suggests) the events are attended by people involved in the web/tech sectors. So as well as supporting a good cause you can also do some networking. We're also delighted to support Twestival by hosting the official Spotify playlist here on ShareMyPlaylists.com. If you're running a local Twestival then please register and upload yours too. Follow @Twestival on Twitter What I'm listening to right now: Will.I.Am - Best Of

  1. Sign-up last week to the Glasgow one, going this Thursday night, was kind of hoping more local web folk I know would be going but looks like I be meeting local web folk that I don’t know, guess that’s a good thing :-) Follow me @ClarkeDuncan and let me know if any of you reading this are going to the Glasgow Twestival.

Kieron – This is your blog and you’ll do what the heck you like with it. However, I just wanted to say that I miss you posting articles that gave us newbies an insight into how you more experiened affiliates work and thought. Your blog posts this year seem to be ‘useful’ adverts for friends and colleagues in the industry.

I appreciate you must be very busy, but all I’m saying is I miss your rants and top tips.

Sounds like a great opportunity to do some off line promotion. I will check to see if there is one in the South.

Hi Keiron, Thanks for bring this to my attention. Found that the only one in wales is here in Cardiff with some fantastic events planned. Last night we had DJ Keith Bishop from The Office and I’m really looking forward to the Comedy Night on Sunday.

I’ve taken the oppunity and become one of the sponsors as offline advertising is always nice to do and makes it feel like a real business if you know what I mean.

    Cheers, Mike
