Now it’s well documented that I LOVE Twitter, I think it’s awesome. However, I’m not sure I would use it for advertising. I noticed that today’s promoted Tweet was “New Selena Album” and when I clicked on it I saw the screen below. Lots of haters but hardly any lovers. Well, Apple launched Ping this week, a “social network for music”. Hmm, now where have I seen that idea before? Of course I’m not suggetsing that ShareMyPlaylists.com invented the social music network or that we’re the only one in existence as we’re not. However I do find the usual Apple hyperbole around the launch of Ping a bit nauseating. Especially as it’s not even that good.
