What I'm listening to right now: Friday FunkPing! Where have I seen that before?
Well, Apple launched Ping this week, a "social network for music". Hmm, now where have I seen that idea before? Of course I'm not suggetsing that ShareMyPlaylists.com invented the social music network or that we're the only one in existence as we're not. However I do find the usual Apple hyperbole around the launch of Ping a bit nauseating. Especially as it's not even that good. So, here is my response :)

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kieron Donoghue and I am the founder of ShareMyPlaylists.com, ContentNow.co.uk and some other stuff. I have no idea why I'm blue on this photo though but I like it!
Clearly a first iteration for Apple. Restricted to inside iTunes is a definite hurdle. I just wonder when Apple will make this and iTunes web-based. They’ve already begun with making app profiles web-searchable by giving each app a page. But have to wonder just how far Apple is willing to go. Are they willing to give up total control outside of the iTunes environment?

I’m not sure which one was first to come up as a social network for music, but I’m sure imeem, playlist.com and myspace pioneered it if I’m not mistaken. Cool layout used with SMP, I may have to try checking your site out
I’m a drummer for an experimental band actually, and I’m seeking for other networks, like purevolume, to discover more hidden gems when it comes to music.

Jason
I havn’t used ping but apple usually just take an idea and make it more stylish and desirable.
